A motorcycle cabbie in south China's Guangdong Province pushed his wounded and unconscious passenger into river and drowned him after an accident caused by fatigue driving, Guangzhou Daily reported today.
The cabbie surnamed Shen from Lechang City stood on trial last week and the court would pronounce the verdict soon, the report said.
On the night of October 21, 2010, Shen was carrying a passenger surnamed Zhu on his motorcycle when he dozed off and hit the guardrail along the side of the Wujiang River. Both men fell to the ground and fainted.
When Shen woke up, he found Zhu was seriously wounded and unconscious. To avoid lawsuit and compensation, Shen threw Zhu into the river, cleared the bloodstain on the road and rode off. Later he surrendered to the police.
At the court, Shen defended himself that he pushed Zhu into river because he found Zhu was already dead. But the court didn't accept his claim.
