Dongguan Government will attempt to record the exact number of its population during China's sixth national population census which has been set to commence on November 1.
Trained census workers will visit residential complexes, hotels and even prisons to collect information on people's ages, nationality, levels of education, profession and population migration.
It has been almost 9 years since Dongguan Government released an official number with respect to the city's population in 2001. The exact number of Dongguan's population has remained a mystery due to the changes in the past few years and the financial crisis which increased population mobility last year.
