Dongguan will allocate a budget of 110 million RMB (US$16 million) toward the construction of seven testing laboratories, in order to meet the rapidly growing demand from local manufacturers for international standard checks, released Dongguan Entry-exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau on March 22.
Among the laboratories, four are designated to be Provincial-level testing laboratories approved by the provincial quality watchdog, and three will be key state-level testing laboratories approved by Central Government s quality watchdog.
The three state-level laboratories will carry out testing services in consumer goods safety, electrical accessories safety, and food and body contact materials. The provincial-level laboratories will be targeted toward animal and plant quarantine, chemical, clinical products testing.
Dongguan s overall ability for products testing is expected to improve greatly after the completion of the laboratories, and shorten the time that is consumed by local manufacturers to clear customs thereby reducing business costs, experts said.
