School security has become an issue of great concern recently as China has recently witnessed a surge in violent attacks against students at schools and kindergartens. In a notice issued by the provincial Ministry of Education before May Day holiday, all the schools and kindergartens are required to coordinate with the public security authorities to regulate the environment surrounding the campus so as to ensure school security.

According to the notice, all the schools are required to establish and improve the visitor admittance register system. New visitors' intention entering the campus should be recorded in case that the unemployed, mental patients and unidentified people enter the campus. Patrol inspection will also be strengthened in teaching buildings and students dormitories. All necessary measures will be taken for any abnormal circumstances.

Video monitors will be installed at the school gates and in key places inside the schools. The police are also instructed to work with education authorities to comprehensively screen all campuses and their surrounding areas for security risks.

Security guards at the school should improve their professional skills to protect teachers and students, said Wu Daowen, the vice mayor of Dongguan. In the near future, the city's public security departments will conduct professional training on security guards such as the arrest and confrontation skills.
