Small Chikungunya virus outbreak strikes Dongguan

From Oct. 1 to Oct. 5, 15 new confirmed cases of Chikungunya fever, an insect-borne virus, appeared in Dongguan City.

The Department of Health of Guangdong Province reported on the evening of Oct. 6 that as of 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 5, 204 total cases of the virus were reported, of which 38 cases were confirmed by a laboratory and 166 cases are suspected and await verification.

At present, all cases were mild. The patients are in stable condition and there have been no severe cases or deaths.
