After seven months, the construction of the Pearl River Delta Greenway Network (Dongguan section), No. 2, No. 3 and No.5 greenways have been completed ahead of time. Cycling through Dongguan on the path is no longer a dream but a new means of transportation for residents.

Liang Guoying, the vice mayor of Dongguan, introduced that the bicycle path is an open network which is constructed mostly along rivers, valleys, ridges, scenic roads and artificial corridors. Scenic spots, natural reserves and historical relics in the city such as Qifeng Park, Dalingshan Forest Park, Binjiang Sports Park, Yuehui Garden and Yuan Chonghuan Memorial Garden, will be linked together by the greenway.

There is a station for about every 3 kilometers. In total there are 26 stations along the greenway for tourists to rest and dine so as to supplement energy.

For every 6 to 10 kilometers usually around stations and scenic spots, there will be a bike rental centre for bicycle parking and renting and also a parking lot for motor vehicles.

A great part of the greenway is situated in remote areas and many people are concerned about their safety while traveling along the greenway. The deputy director of the Dongguan Greenway Office, Huang Yudong, replied that safety guardrails between the bicycle road and motor road, and warning signs in front of sharp turns, steep slopes and crossings to arouse people's awareness are still under gradual perfection. Huang also reminds people to try and stay in groups while traveling in the greenways. "You'd better not to go out too late alone", said Huang.
