Dongguan would raise its minimum wage to CNY 1100 from March, Dongguan Daily reported on January 20.
The Guangdong Provincial Government released the "Circular on Adjusting the Minimum Wage Standards of Enterprise Employees in Guangdong Province (yuefuhan [2011] No. 15)" on January 18. The circular announces the lifted minimum salary standards and urges every prefecture level and above government to adjust and announce its own city's lowest standard within 15 days after January 18.
According to the document, the minimum wage standard in Dongguan would be raised to CNY 1100 per month from CNY 920 per month, representing a 19.57 percent rise. It is the sixth time that Dongguan raises its minimum wage standard since the year of 2003. In May 2010, Dongguan raised its minimum wage to CNY 920 per month from CNY 880 per month.
