President Cao Meet With Vice President of University of Bayreuth

President Cao Deming held a banquet to welcome the guests fromUniversity of Bayreuth led by Prof. Bernhard Herz, Vice President on the evening of Sep. 18th at the VIP hall of SISU Guest House. The two parties exchanged friendly talks on future cooperation.

President Cao introduced SISU to the German guests. He said that SISU graduates were very competitive in the job market and our university has achieved delightful results in the area of combined majors. He highly praised the cooperative program withUniversity of Bayreuth in setting up the combined German-Economics major.At the same time, President Cao expressed his sincere hope to deepen our friendly cooperation with University of Bayreuth and wished better results out of it. Prof. Bernhard Herz, Vice President of University of Bayreuth, also made favorable comments on SISU s recent achievements and the success of the combined German-Economics major. He then introduced briefly University of Bayreuth and expressed his wish to continue this cooperation by offering more support and help. He sincerely hoped that the two universities can extend exchanges and further cooperation and more German students will come to SISU to study.

Prof. Bernhard Herz came to SISU together with Prof. Klaus Schaefer, distinguished scholar in the field of bank financing. During the visit, Prof. Schaefer will teach the German-Economics majors of SISU for two weeks. The major was set up at SISU in 2000 in cooperation with University of Bayreuth. The two universities have given strong support to this program in the past 8 years and trained many outstanding graduates. The students majored in this area continue their graduate education at University of Bayreuth for M.A. degrees after they complete the four-year undergraduate study at SISU. There have been over 100 SISU graduates went to Germany and some of them have finished their studies their, earned their degrees. This program is highly appraised and appreciated.

Other faculty members present included Prof. Wei Maoping, Dean of the German Department, Mr. Li Yunfei, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office, Ms. Jiang Lulu and Mr. Zhou Fang, lecturers of the German-Economics major.
