BCIA Establishes Sister Airports Relationship with O'Hare

Beijing-March 22, 2011, Beijing Capital Int'l Airport Co., Ltd. and Chicago Department of Aviation signed the Memorandum of Understanding to establish sister airports relationship between BCIA and Chicago O'Hare Int'l Airport on 22 March in Beijing. This step will strengthen bilateral cooperation and communication in areas such as hub construction, airport planning and sustainable development, airport management etc., to expand the growing Asia-Pacific aviation market.

President & CEO of Capital Airports Holding Company Dr. Dong Zhiyi noted in the ceremony that over the years the Sino-US relationship had been strengthening through dialogues and cooperation in economy, trade and culture. Under such circumstance, the bond between two world renowned airport operators would reinforce the collaboration of both cities in terms of regional development, economic and cultural exchanges and motivate airports to cooperate more closely in airport operation, management and business to pave the way for future new technology, new concept and new information exchange.

The practice of modernization, suitability and going green projects at O'Hare would be beneficial to the Beijing new airport planning and construction.

Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Ms. Rosemarie Andolino, who's paying a municipal visit to China's 5 cities with the Chicago City Mayor noted in her remarks that the partnership with BCIA would promote closer ties between the two airports in terms of passenger and cargo services, sharing of experience and further drive the two cities' advancement and vitality as engines.

Beijing Capital Int'l Airport and Chicago O'Hare Int'l Airport ranked the world's second and third busiest airports respectively last year, and have remained close friendship ties through the years. In 2010, air passenger volume between China and U.S. reached 3.2 million with a YOY increase of 33%. Daily direct scheduled service originating from Beijing to the U.S. reaches 11 flights, and 72 a week.

BCIA has established sister airports relationship with Airport Authority of Hong Kong, Athens Int'l Airport, Changi Airport Group, Aeroports de Paris Management, Vancouver Airport Authority, Narita Int'l Airport, Sydney Int'l Airport, Schipol Group, Airports of Thailand Plc. and Chicago O'Hare Int'l Airport in recent years.

President & CEO of BCIA Mr. Zhang Guanghui, Vice President of CAH Mr. Yao Yabo, Vice President of CAH Mr. Zhang Musheng, Executive Vice President of BCIA Ms. Li Xiaomei, Executive Vice President Ms. Gao Lijia, Chicago Department of Aviation Airline and Industry Planning Director Mr. Matthew Danaher and management team of CAH and BCIA also attended the ceremony.
