The last April 15th is the second world social worker s day. Seventy social workers from four social work institutions in Xicheng district attended the related activities and introduced social work to citizens.
In recent years, a professional education and training system for social workers has been set up in Xicheng district. The system covers party and government organizations, public institutions and communities, follows a functioning pattern of developing social work institutions to ensure the progress of social workers. In July, 2009, the first social worker union in Beijing was established in Xicheng district, following which, three social work offices, naming Muyou, Yuequn, Renzhu were registered within the district. So far, there are altogether nearly 400 social workers in the district with qualified social worker certificates.
