During the year of 2009, the number of enterprises of all kinds had increased enormously in Xicheng district. By the end of the year, the total number of enterprises amounted to 27,012, seeing an increase of 8% compared to the year of 2008. There are 20,740 corporation units and 6,272 industrial estalishments, with respective increases of 6.7% and 12.6%. There are also 34,426 individual business households, which decreases 6.8% compare to the last year.
Local revenue saw a small increase of 15.22 billion yuan in the year of 2009, increasing 6.3% compared to the last year. Business tax, house tax, value added tax and income tax of enterprises amounted to 12.1 billion yuan, decreasing 5.3% compared to the last year, and accounting for 79.5% of local revenue. Among them, there is 5.71 billion yuan of business tax, increasing 17.7%, 1.17 billion yuan of house tax, increasing 7.8%, 6.5 billion yuan of value added tax, decreasing 9.3%, and 74.57 billion yuan of income tax of enterprises, decreasing 25.3% compared to the year of 2008.
Local expenditure tilts in favour of people s livelihood. According to preliminary statistics, the local expenditure of the whole year amounted to 12.11 billion yuan, increasing 22.9% on last year. Of the 12.11 billion yuan, 1.62 billion yuan was spend on education, increasing 59.4% compared to 2008. 1.34 billion yuan was on social security and employment, increasing 12.6% compared to last year. 0.96 billion yuan was spent on medical care and public health, which is a 0.25 billion yuan more than the last year. 4.46 billion yuan was spent on urban and rural community work, increasing 24.6% compared to 2008.
