Guangzhou US Consulate General Officers Visit ZQU
On March 26, Ms. Shawntae White, Vice Consul of
the US Consulate General Office in Guangzhou, accompanied by Mr.
Timothy Guo, Director of the Consulate Information Resources
Center, visited Zhaoqing University (ZQU).
Ms. White delivered a wonderful lecture on US higher education
and visas which attracted some 200 students and five current
American teachers and students. A book donation ceremony was
held right after the lecture in which Ms. White, representing
the Guangzhou US Consulate General, donated some books to ZQU.
Vice President Wang Zhong thanked the US Consulate and expressed
the wish for more extensive exchange and cooperation with
institutions of higher learning in the US through the platform
of the US Consulate.
ZQU attaches great importance to American exchange and
cooperation. Until the present, ZQU has established partnerships
with five US institutions of higher learning Anoka Ramsey
Community College in Minnesota, Hiram College in Ohio, Edgewood
College in Wisconsin, the University of Texas Pan-American, and
Northern Illinois University. ZQU also maintains contact with
Muskingum University in Ohio and the University of
Wisconsin-Stout. In 2009, ZQU employed five teachers from the US
and recruited eight American students to study Chinese.
