On April 16th, Mr. George Greenwood, President of British Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (Hereinafter shorted as ICS), Mr. Alan Phillips, Chief Executive Officer of ICS and other two representatives visited Shanghai Maritime University. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU cordially met with the guests.

Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU briefed the guests on China s shipping education development, special features of SMU and personnel cultivation advantages. He points out that Shanghai is building an international shipping center at present, sophisticated personnel such as shipbrokers are in great shortage. Therefore, SMU would quite appreciate a more strengthened exchange and cooperation with ICS to provide personnel support for Shanghai international shipping center construction.

President George Greenwood says that ICS is focusing on the Chinese market and seeking for cooperation with shipping education and training organizations. He believes that the cooperation with SMU is potential and promising as Shanghai Maritime University owns excellent courses and state-of-art equipments as well as abundant foreign cooperation experience.

Headquartered in London, ICS has established 23 branches and 14 distance education center in major shipping countries including China which can provide professional qualifications and business standard recognized around the world for shipping agents, ship managers and port agents.
