Vice Mayor of the City of Antwerp, President of Antwerp Port Authority and the Entourage Visits SMU

On June 9th, Mr. Marc Van Peel, Vice Mayor of the City of Antwerp, President of Antwerp Port Authority, Mr. Luc Arnouts, Chief Commercial Officer of Antwerp Port Authority and representatives of Antwerp Port Authority in China paid a visit to SMU. Prof. Jin Yingxing, Vice President of SMU had a cordial meeting with the guests and extended gratitude to Vice Mayor Van Peel for his second visit since last June.
Both parties discussed thoroughly on the cooperation possibility and future cooperation mode in training and research aspects between SMU and Antwerp Port Authority as well as its subsidiary APEC.
After the meeting, Mr. Marc Van Peel delivered a keynote speech for SMU students entitled "The Port of Antwerp: strategic positioning", introducing present status of Antwerp, its role as an international port, the financial crisis impact on the containerized trade and the future development of the port of Antwerp.
