President GONG Ke Visited Singapore

From November 1-3, 2006, a delegation from Tianjin University (TU) headed by the newly appointed President, Prof. GONG Ke, visited Singapore. Taking the opportunity of attending the conference of ISAP 2006 (International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation), President Gong paid an official visit to the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), two distinguished universities of Singapore.

President Gong and his delegation made their visit first to NUS on Nov. 1 and NTU the next day. During the courtesy calls to NUS and NTU presidents, President Gong Ke and his delegation were warmly welcomed and friendly discussions about further collaboration were held. The delegation also met with TU alumni in NUS and visited the well-equipped labs and centers in NTU.

During his visit, President Gong Ke mentioned that TU is committed to becoming a world-class, progressive and multidisciplinary research university. The discussions also touched upon the future development of Tianjin, especially the New Coastal Area in Tianjin and TU s future strategy towards the perspective development of this nationally highlighted area for the economic, financial and technological development.

TU wishes to play a more important role with joint efforts with partner universities across the globe. Wang Shibin, Deputy Director of Office of Undergraduate Affairs, Prof. Han Jinyu, Deputy Director of Office of Academic Degree and Discipline Development and Ms. He Yuanyuan, Project Executive of International Cooperation Office.
