China's vegetables remain of high quality, 96.9 percent of 3,480 samples in 53 vegetable varieties passed inspection, up 1.5 percentage points over the first monitoring, according to the Ministry of Agriculture June 30.
People's Daily reports that this year, in order to promote the quality and safety of the agricultural products, China's Ministry of Agriculture has made unremitting efforts, such as forbidding the use of highly-toxic pesticides, strengthening the pesticide regulation, carrying out checks on highly-toxic pesticides and monitoring on pesticides and pesticide residue.
After half a year's effort, the actions have brought a noticeable effect and the quality and safety of vegetables are maintaining good levels.
