Write: Walenty [2011-05-20]

During the 2010 May Day holiday, the average price of two-star to five-star hotels in Sanya, a city of south China's Hainan province will be 230, 300, 460 and 1,100 yuan per day, respectively, according to the statistics from an online tourism Web site.

Surprisingly, the prices have decreased by 75 percent compared to the Spring Festival holiday, and the sky-high hotel prices of over 10,000 yuan per day have all disappeared.

Affected by hotel prices, the prices of individual and group tourism packages booked online have also decreased greatly. Taking the five-day tourism package as an example, tourists who choose five-star hotels can enjoy a 70 percent discount at most, and the prices of some special five-star hotels are only about 30 percent of the prices during the Spring Festival holiday.

The prices of other accommodations of different levels during the May Day holiday have also decreased by 50 percent compared to the Spring Festival. The prices of most products will start to rise on April 28, reaching its peak and sharply falling on April 30.
