Qantas has partnered up with Solena, a US bioenergy company, to construct a commercial biofuel plant in Sydney.
The biofuel will reduce carbon emissions and will make use of recycled waste. Food scraps, packaging, grass and tree cuttings, will all be viable materials converted to produce biofuel that will eventually power aircraft, according to a report in eTravel Blackboard. Solena also has a similar project with British Airways in London to build a biofuel plant by the year 2014.
