Double Peaks Temple

The Doubles Peak Temple is located in Lianhuaxin,Dongshan, Rongcheng District. It’s one of the three most famous ancient Buddhist temples in Chaoshan region. The other two are the Kaiyuan Temple in Chaozhou and the Lingshan Temple in Chaoyang. It was first built in the 10^th year of the Shaoxing Reign of the Song Dynast (1140 A.D.). It was originally built in Dushuang Mountain, Panxi, and later moved to the current site. There are the Main Hall of Buddha, the Heavenly King Hall, the Chuangjing Tower, the Dizhuang Tower, the East Gallery and the West Gallery. The steles with the word” Shou” and the word” Hu” in the temple are well worth seeing. The former was written by Cheng Tuan in the Five Dynasties. Its rubbing was moved to Zhaoqing. The original inscription exists in Dazu County, Sichuan Province. There are a lot of men who crave the reproductions of the inscription all over the country. The latter was written by Zhang Guoliang in the Qing Dynasty.  “Double-Peak Evening Bell” is one of the eight ancient landscapes. When the sun sets and birds home, you stroll in the temple. Smoke curls up from the temple.  Monks beat wooden fish and make a quick succession of short percussive sounds. The bell gives forth a lingering sound. It makes you welter in idleness. You feel you keep away from the society and are carefree.
