Roses and floral looks will be among the most dominant prints. Chambray is coming back. Studs will be a trim of choice.
These juniors trend pronouncements were among the forecasts at a series of private seminars produced by the Barbara Fields Buying Office and scheduled to coincide with Los Angeles Majors Market. More than 400 executives and buyers from retailers such as Macy’s, JCPenney, Windsor, Rue 21, Kohl’s and Styles for Less took in the seminars, which started on Oct. 1, to get a first look at trends for Spring 2010.
For denim, key shapes will be skinny jeans, leggings and denim with rouching. Short shorts will be popular. Strapless dresses will be popular as well as all-in-one dresses—or one garment that looks like two separate pieces.
Motorcycle jackets and boyfriend blazers are key. For sweaters, cardigans and shrugs will be a good bet. And key prints for T-shirts include animal skins, paint splatter and the ubiquitous roses.
Studs will be a trim of choice, but retailers also might want to look at trims such as laces, sequins and necklace attachments, Fields said.
