Since its inception in 2000, Vancouver Fashion Week has burgeoned to a well-respected fashion industry event accommodating Canada's and, more specifically, Western Canada's industry professionals by giving them the opportunity to mix, mingle, and network with like-minded associates in their fields. The event takes place in a variety of venues including the aforementioned Westin Bayshore, the Terminal City Club, Ginger 62, and the 10,000 square foot Colin Campbell Showroom, where the majority of the runway shows will take place.
After the epic failure that was BC Fashion Week, local Vancouverites are in high-hopes that VFW will truly showcase the talent that they all know their city contains and fosters.
"Our vision is to create an avenue where designers, buyers, and media from East to West may connect and propose business. Vancouver Fashion Week will be an ideal event that facilitates trade and exposure for our international guests as well as highlighting Vancouver’s local talent.
As diversity and creativity is at the centrefold of Vancouver Fashion Week, this season will feature both emerging and established designers in many categories, some being street wear, aboriginal and eco-friendly designs. Known as the West Coast’s most prestigious industry event, we thrive on inviting the most creative talent."(Source: vanfashionweek)
With designers like Orange NYC, Kersh, Hawks Ave, Killa, and Dorothy Grant scheduled to send their collections down the runway there is no denying that VFW will epitomize the diversity of the fashion industry and the mélange of cultures represented in Vancouver.
