A lot of extra efforts need to be taken to promote Nepali handicrafts in the US market, said the newly-appointed Nepalese Ambassador to the US, Dr Shankar Sharma, at an interaction program conducted by Federation of Handicrafts Association of Nepal (FHAN).
In order to reduce participation cost in expos organized in America, it is better to conduct handicraft related fairs and exhibitions at national level, as Nepali entrepreneurs have been facing many hurdles to promote their handicrafts to the US markets, said FHAN President Mr. Bikash Ratna Dhakwa, during the program.
Even after booking stalls there, visa problems are major issues for the entrepreneurs to take part in the expos held in US, so for the cost effective promotion of these products it would prove to be beneficial to conduct such kind of events domestically, said the President.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has also been signed to create a niche for Nepali products in Myanmar. Ambassador of Nepal to Myanmar Ms. Gunalaxmi Sharma Biswokarma and Federation of Nepalese Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) Ms. Lata Pyakurel have jointly signed this MoU.
