America's Next Top Model, the hit reality show on the CW, held two casting call events at Federico Career College. The show appeared at both the Fresno and Bakersfield campuses, giving local young women the chance to audition for the fifteenth season.
Armed with lengthy applications and headshot photographs, participants had the opportunity to meet with casting directors at the beauty school campuses. The Bakersfield casting call was held on March 27, 2010 and drew 90 participants. The Fresno campus drew 110 participants on April 2, 2010.
In addition to drawing modeling hopefuls from across California, the casting calls also inspired several Federico Career College students to audition for the show. Taylor Prosser, a cosmetology student at the Bakersfield campus, is interested in becoming a part of the show that would give her an opportunity to work with top names in the modeling industry. Riealle Tyrrell, Christina Ferguson, and Keris Kliewer are all students at the Fresno campus, and are equally excited to have the chance to work with Tyra Banks, J. Alexander, and other celebrities.
These cosmetology students are already exposed to the world of fashion and style through their school work. Federico Career College trains students to become leaders in the style industry, through hair and makeup. The Federico program emphasizes the designer’s approach to hair, skin, and makeup, and encourages students to be creative. This training could give the girls an advantage if they make it on to other audition rounds.
During the auditions, Federico Career College spoke to the hopeful young women about careers in the beauty industry, providing those who were interested with information about all of the programs available at the Bakersfield and Fresno beauty schools. Federico Career Colleges offers cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, manicuring, and massage therapy programs. Students and staff also provided color consultations for the modeling hopefuls, and face mapping skin analysis services.
America’s Next Top Model gives nine to fourteen young women from across the country the chance to compete for a grand prize that includes a modeling contract with a top agency or management company. The participants go through intense training over the course of several weeks, living together as they compete to become America’s Next Top Model.
