ZTE Hopeful of $4 Billion Business for Telecom Industry

ZTE Telecom, which provides network solutions and equipment for telecommunication is anticipating a business of $4 billion for the telecom
vendor industry. This is expected to be created in the near future with the probable roll out of 3G, WiMax and other advanced communication services in India.
The Chairman and Managing Director of the company D K Ghosh, revealed that the company is vying for a 10-15% share in the market. Ghosh revealed this to reporters while attending a press conference at the Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning
in Management (EIILM). It has been reported that the procedure of auctioning radio frequency spectrum for third generation telephony has commenced. T
his would be followed by bid offers for spectrum of WiMax services. Ghosh told reporters, "We have some major plans for India and plan to grow by around 30 per cent every year".
It is said that the company attained a turnover of $8.8 billion in 2008-2009. 10% of this turnover was generated through Indian operations.
It is also revealed that ZTE is hoping to take part in the re-tendering of the contentious project of state
run telecom service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) for 93 million GSM connections. This project has recently been dropped.
