During the school, both European and domestic experts were invited to elaborate on the latest developments of grid technology and its application, the implementation of EPIKH project, and China s e-Infrastructure and internet development. The participants also received a systematic training of grid application porting, grid sites installation and management.
Then as the most important achievement of this school, the transplant of computing application to grid platform was successfully realized by three institutes, which would enable the domestic scientists to make use of the gird computing resources, and promote the application of the Grid Paradigm in domestic scientific research.
The Exchange Programme to advance e-Infrastructure Know-How (EPIKN) Project is an international project supported by European Community 7th Framework Programmes. It aims to stimulate and foster e-Science and Grids well outside its borders and in several parts of the world such as Asia, Latin America and the Mediterranean. As one of 23 members of this project, IHEP is in charge of the partial training and promotion tasks.
This year, the Grid School aimed to promote the adoption of the Grid paradigm and the effective usage of e-Infrastructures, which required a capillary activity of knowledge dissemination and training to help scientists to make use of distributed computing capabilities for their scientific applications.
Dr. CHEN Hesheng, the IHEP director, and Prof. Plinio INNOCENZI, scientific attache of the Embassy of Italy in Bejing joined in the last day of this school. It was concluded that this school would have a profound effect on the future development of the Grid Paradigm in China.
