Investment for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo will be fully audited and open to public supervision, Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng said at a government press conference, Xinhua reported Monday.
Gross investment in construction for the international event will be managed within 18 billion yuan (US$2.63 billion), while the estimated operation expenditure will cost up to 10.6 billion yuan (US$1.55 billion), according to the municipal chief.
The municipality also pledged more effort to ensure lodging and traffic capacity for tourists, estimated at 400,000 people per day during the six-month World Expo starting on May 1.
