China's general aviation industry eventually will be worth more than 1 trillion yuan ($150.6 billion) with the continued easing of air space restrictions on low-altitude flights, the Beijing News reported Monday.
According to the report, the central government has recently approved a guideline to reform low-altitude air-space management over the next five to 10 years to encourage development of the general aviation industry.
Registered private planes will be allowed to take off without advance approval, said Liao Xuefeng, vice-chairman of the Asian Business Aviation Association.
Previous regulations put low-altitude airspace throughout China under control, which meant private planes had to apply for permission in advance for every flight and then wait for approval, which often took a long time.
"The guideline is an important step for China to open its low-altitude air-space," said Liao.
