Sea foam makes a splash with certification bodies

May 17-Isle of Wight-based SP High Modulus, the marine business of Gurit, has secured further approval from two of the world's leading certification bodies for its new marine foam core, Corecell M-Foam.

The product, which was launched to the marine composites market in July 2009, has been type approved by Bureau Veritas and Registro Italinano Navale (RINA).

These compliment the earlier accreditations by three awarding organisations including ABS Quality Evaluations (ABS QE), Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Germanischer Lloyd (GL).

Graham Harvey, marine business manager at SP High Modulus said: These approvals, on top of M-Foam's combination of high mechanical properties at low density, high toughness, infusion and prepreg compatibility, offer further validation of M-Foam's proposition for the production and super yacht marine segments.
