Shell signs on Nigerian firms for marine services

Write: Cilla [2011-05-20]
Shell has awarded two Nigerian firms contracts to provide marine services at Shell's main Bonny and Forcados crude export terminals.

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) joint venture, which operates with Nigerian state-owned oil firm NNPC, awarded the contracts to C & I Leasing and Miden Systems, Shell said today.

The two Nigerian firms will provide marine tanker handling and pilot services to crude export vessels at the Bonny and Forcados terminals. The two companies will also maintain associated crude loading facilities and carry out offshore terminal emergency response and surveillance.

Nigeria has been pressing foreign oil majors working in the country to increase their local content in their operations.
