PetroChina Kunlun Gas has lately established a joint venture with Lanzhou Gas Corporation in Northwest China's Gansu Province. After asset restructuring, PetroChina Kunlun Gas and Lanzhou Municipal Government each hold 50% of shares of the new company.
This cooperation is expected to help push forward Kunlun Gas' LPG and piped gas business in Lanzhou.
This was another effort by Kunlun Gas's marketing branch in Lanzhou to promote LPG sales in Northwest China, after integrating local LPG sales. The branch was established in 2009 and has taken over the sales of LPG from PetroChina's refineries in Northwest China.
Kunlun gas plans to build three LPG reserve tank farms in Lanzhou, with the storage capacity at 700-800-mt for each, said a source with the company. Such tank farms will help to ease Lanzhou Petrochemical's LPG sales pressure and lend support to prices.
But some market sources expressed doubt about this plan as daily LPG demand is merely about 80mt a day in Lanzhou.
