Sinopec Wuhan Petrochemical is likely to boost its crude throughput by about 70% in 2013, as it will make full use of 8.5-mil-mt/yr annual topping capacity after bringing some secondary units on line in the first half of the year, according to a source with the refinery.

These secondary units include a 1.8-mil-mt/yr VGO hydrocracker and a 1.8-mil-mt/yr hydrocracker. They are scheduled to be delivered at the same time as the refinery's 800,000-mt/yr ethylene unit, the source said.

As reported earlier that Wuhan Petrochemical had suspended operation of a 3.5-mil-mt/yr CDU since it started a 5-mil-mt/yr one in the end of 2007, running at only about 60% of capacity on average. The refinery is still running only one CDU at present, as its secondary units are out of pace.

Wuhan Petrochemical is a major refinery in Central China.
