Uni-President Enterprises Corp., Taiwan's largest food group, has agreed to build a beverage plant in northwest China's Gansu Province, a local official said Wednesday.
The facility in Baiyin City will cover 13 hectares at a cost of 36 million U.S. dollars, said Zhao Zengguo, director of Baiyin City's Investment Promotion Bureau.
The first-phase of the project is expected to begin construction in April 2011 and be finished by May 2012, Zhao said.
Also, the first-phase of the project is designed to have an annual production capacity of 12 million cases of beverages with a value of about 230 million yuan (34.6 million U.S. dollars).
Uni-President will kick off construction on the second phase, very likely with a larger capacity, after the first phase is completed, Zhao added.
