The current relatively healthy status of spandex industry is predicted to last in the following half and one more year.
Spandex output would increase by around 60-70kt in 2011. In 2009-2010, 61kt/y spandex capacities mushroomed in domestic market, of which 5-6kt/y capacities would put into operation in 2010 while a total of 60-70kt/y capacities would be on stream in 2011. By that time, the industry would probably be impacted significantly.
As a result, Chinese pioneer special fiber company Yantai Spandex largely developed the aramid businesses due to shrinking spandex businesses. The company s 4.6kt/y aramid 1313 facility operated at full load while its materials were priced around Rmb 130000-140000/ton, with gross profit margin stable around 35%. Its aramid 1414 facility which was predicted to put into operation by the end of May, 2011 was in the process of installation. As yet, prices of aramid 1414 were around Rmb 200000-300000/ton(for civil use), with gross profit margin above 40%.
