p>The US phthalic anhydride molten contracts are to increase 1 cent/lb in September to 57.5 cents/lb delivered following the 1 cent/lb increase in August's orthoxylene contract, according to industry sources.
US PA contracts automatically move at a one-month lag to changes in the OX contract.
The higher OX contract went against some buyers' expectations as OX typically follows movements in mixed xylenes and the 5211 grade MX CP fell 2 cents/gal in August to 247 cents/gal.
The impending increase in PA prices in September was not heard to have pushed forward demand with pre-buying in August as the fall season tends to be when PA demand slows.
