p>Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corp. was gradually resuming regular deliveries of butadiene and propylene to its end-user customers in Kaohsiung, after delays earlier this week due to road blockages by protesters, a company source said Friday.

Formosa supplies butadiene and propylene from its integrated petrochemical and refinery complex in Mailiao, north Taiwan, to Kaohsiung, south Taiwan, via tank trucks. The deliveries were disrupted as protesters had blocked roads near the complex.

The source had earlier estimated delivery delays of just a few days.

Local residents protested at Formosa's 540,000 b/d refinery Tuesday morning over a disagreement on compensation following two separate fires at the complex in July.

On July 7, a fire broke out at the No. 1 naphtha-fed steam cracker. The cracker can produce 700,000 mt/year of ethylene and 350,000 mt/year of propylene. Another fire broke out at refinery's 80,500 b/d No. 2 residue desulfurizer unit on July 25.

The residents had refused Formosa's offer of T$450 million ($14.1million) in compensation for the fires and have demanded more than T$1billion, AFP reported.
