China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 2,927.08 Tuesday, up 4.12 points, or 0.14 percent, from the previous close.
The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange was up 0.17 percent, or 21.59 points, to end at 12,926.62 points on Tuesday.
Hong Kong stocks closed up 113.58 points, or 0.49 percent, at 23,431.19 on Tuesday.
Japan
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 22.88 points, or 0.22 percent, from Monday to a fresh seven-month high at 10,316.77, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange added 4.49 points, or 0.50 percent, to finish at 901.89.
Australia
The Australian sharemarket has closed flat, with financial stocks mixed as the senate inquiry into competition in the banking sector continues.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index had lifted 0.2 per cent to 4,766.9 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index had inched up 0.21 per cent to 4,851.8 points.
