The latest medical extrusion line from American Kuhne will be on show at a Kuhne Group open house exhibition in October, accessible to visitors to K2010.

The line is based on a modular extruder with barrels and screws that can be changed for product change-over or to change the barrel/screw diameter and/or L/D. The extruder also has the latest AKcess touch screen control system.

The extruder is designed specifically for clean room and/or controlled environments, with electrical controls that are readily accessible for service and integral with the extruder frame, also reducing machine width and floor space. The machine is designed with smooth external surfaces and rounded corners for wipe down. The extruders are built in 12 7 to 44 mm sizes and all extruders, systems and controls sold into Europe are CE labelled.

The die on this line will be a Guill Tool spiral-flow crosshead with feather touch concentricity adjustment. The line will be running with a LaserLinc ID/OD/wall gauge and control system as well as a Conair Medvac vacuum sizer and a Medline Taper Tube puller/cutter.

Other equipment from the Kuhne Group at the event will include two new lines from the blown film division while the flat film division will show a line for the production of waterproof membranes, which was developed in cooperation with Oldroyd of Norway, as well as a PET line. Kuhne Anlagenbau will be show a triple-bubble line for biaxially oriented 11-layer films.

The open house is at Kuhne's St Augustin plant in Germany on October 26 and 27. The plant can be reached from D sseldorf by train (to Siegburg).
