China
China's stocks closed at mixed levels Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.12 percent, or 3.27 points, to close at 2,823.45.
The Shenzhen Component Index lost 0.21 percent, or 25.9 points, to end at 12,310.38.
Hong Kong stocks closed up 241.81 points, or 1.05 percent, at 23,249.80 on Wednesday.
Japan
Japanese stocks rose modestly Wednesday due to bargain hunting after the previous day's sharp fall.
The benchmark 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 51.01 points, or 0.51 percent, from Tuesday to 9,988.05.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 5.13 points, or 0.60 percent, to 866.07.
Australia
The Australian share market closed flat on Wednesday after weaker than expected growth during the September quarter and a negative U.S. lead.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index went up 2.2 points, or 0.05 percent, at 4,586.6 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index added 0.4 points, or 0.01 percent, to 4,676.8 points.
