China's stocks closed higher Thursday, trailing rally of the U.S. stock market overnight on improved economic data.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.71 percent, or 20.16 points, to close at 2,843.61.
The Shenzhen Component Index added 0.80 percent, or 98.64 points, to end at 12,409.02.
Hong Kong stocks closed up 198.98 points, or 0.86 percent, at 23,448.78 on Thursday.
Japan
Tokyo stocks closed sharply higher Thursday with the key Nikkei index surging 1.8 percent to a fresh five-month closing high.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Average gained 180.47 points to 10,168. 52, hitting a new closing high since June 21. The broader Topix index was up 11.14 points, or 1.29 percent, to 877.21.
Australia
The Australian share market surged today, on the back of a strong offshore lead and positive momentum in the Asian region.
The All Ordinaries Index (XAO) rose 85 points, or 1.8 percent, to 4761.8, while the S&P/ASX 200 Index (XJO) strengthened by 89.6 points, or 2 percent to 4676.2.
