Cotton exports will be there in cards only after the domestic requirement is met, said India s Textile Minister pacifying the apprehension of textile industry on Friday.
Minister Dayanidhi Maran said the government would not allow the export of cotton above the 55 lakh bales on which the online registration is being progressed.
Stating that the domestic demand is about 260 lakh bales, Maran said exports would begin only after the domestic requirement was met and if there was surplus.
Meanwhile, he rejected any malpractices in online registration since the process is only a registration not online trading.
