p>Petcoke prices kept steady during the National Day Holiday (Oct 1-7) on smooth sales. Trading prices of low-sulfur petcoke held stable at Yuan 2,250-2,300/mt, those of high-sulfur grades at Yuan 1,525-1,600/mt and mid-sulfur products at Yuan 1,750-1,830/mt. a survey found. Mid-sulfur petcoke from most refineries in Central China and North China recorded stable sales and thus comfortable inventories, it is found on Oct 8. Mid-sulfur grade sales kept stable in Shandong independents during the seven-day holiday. Mainstream trading prices from these refineries were maintained at Yuan 1,700-1,800/mt, flat with the week before the Holiday. High-sulfur petcoke market in East China and South China were also on steady track up till Oct 8, with stockpiles kept at moderate levels as well. Sinopec marked down petcoke prices in North China, Central China and Shandong on Sep 30, with mid-sulfur petcoke from Shijiazhuang Refinery traded at Yuan 1,890/mt, those from Qingdao Petrochemical at Yuan 1,850/mt and those from Shengli Oilfield Refinery at Yuan 1,870/mt.

The oil giant also cut prices of mid-sulfur petcoke from its Central China-based refineries to around Yuan 1,850/mt. The downward adjustment was the result of thin demand during the holiday period and high inventory pressure, reckoned most industry sources. Only Qingdao Refining & Chemical Co lifted high-sulfur petcoke price to Yuan 1,510/mt.
