Asia: LG Acquires Dow's 50% Holding In Polycarbonate Joint Venture

p>Seoul - LG Chem Ltd. has acquired Dow Chemical's 50% stake in LG Dow Polycar-bonate Ltd., a joint venture between the two companies.


The acquisition makes LG Chem the sole owner of the venture, which has two plants in Yeosu, South Korea, with a total capacity of 170,000 t/y. Cost of the deal was not given.


Dow Chemical decided to sell its polycarbonate business after its acquisition last year of Rohm and Haas, and recently completed the sale of its Styron Division, which includes poly-carbonates, to Bain Capital.
