Due to typhoon Megi that is forecast to make a landfall between Guangdong and Fujian on Oct 23, ports in South China all suspended bunker refueling on Oct 22 and ships were taking shelter in ports, learned from bunker suppliers.
Bunker trading has plunged in South China in the past few days, as shipping has been hindered by the typhoon.
Bunker demand is expected to grow notably when the typhoon is over.
Also because of the typhoon, the arrival of some bunker gasoil has been delayed. One cargo of bunker gasoil was previously scheduled to arrive for a supplier in Guangzhou this week, but this cargo will not be loaded until next week, according to the supplier.
It has not learned about the delay of bunker fuel oil cargoes.
