Apple and China Unicom, China's leading telecommunications carrier, said Monday they will begin selling Apple's iPhone 4 on the Chinese mainland from Saturday.
Apple said on its website the iPhone 4 will be available for purchase on the mainland at Apple stores, including at two new Apple stores in Shanghai and Beijing that open Saturday.
Without a contract, the product's recommended retail price is 4,999 yuan (745 U.S. dollars) for the 16GB model and 5,999 yuan for the 32GB model.
China Unicom will sell the iPhone 4 bundled with a two-year mobile service contract and require users to make a down payment.
Users can receive the 16GB iPhone 4 for free if they pay a minimum 286 yuan per month.
Users will have to pay 3,899 yuan for the 16GB iPhone 4 if they choose the 96-yuan-per-month package.
The company began taking pre-orders on the Chinese mainland for the iPhone 4 Friday.
