South China's Hainan Province became the first province in China with B5 biogasoil available.

Twelve petrol stations affiliated to Sinopec in Hainan have recently started to offer B5 biogasoil, selling price of which was Yuan 6.53 per liter, flat with retail price of zero pour point gasoil, said a source with CNOOC's biogasoil project, the sole blendstock supplier in Hainan.

B5 biogasoil was well received at present, according to the source.
PetroChina's petrol stations are expected to replace petrogasoil with B5 biogasoil from Dec 8, the source said, adding all petrol stations in Hainan would offer the fuel in about one month.

Hainan Province would also become the first supplying B5 biogasoil and eliminating petrogasoil next year, the source believed.

As C1 reported earlier, Sinopec and PetroChina had reached agreements CNOOC on purchasing jatropha curcas oil from CNOOC to blend B5 biogasoil.

The National Development & Reform Commission prescribed ex-refinery price of biogasoil blendstock should be 92% of petroleum-based gasoil.

Currently, ex-refinery price of biogasoil blendstock was Yuan 6,145/mt in Hainan.

B5 biogasoil is basically a blend of 95% regular petroleum-based gasoil and 5% biofuel.

In Hainan, only CNOOC has biogasoil project at the moment, capable of producing 60,000mt per year of jatropha curcas oil.

The Hainan provincial government promulgated the Blending Standard for B5 Biogasoil as Fuel on Aug 1.

Hazardous chemical content of emissions from an engine burning biogasoil is 50% lower than that consuming petroleum-based gasoil.
