Russian gas giant Gazprom is in talks with state-owned Oil India Ltd. on two potential gas projects in India, Gazprom's head for the country, Alexander Nikoforov, said Monday.
The companies are discussing partnership arrangements for two projects--one onshore and one offshore--in which Oil India owns licenses, Nikoforov told reporters in Moscow on the sidelines of an investor meeting on new exploration opportunities in India.
The onshore project is in the state of Mizoram in northeastern India and the offshore project is in the area of the Krishna Godavari basin, where Reliance Industries operates a large gas field, Nikoforov said.
"Seismic work has been done on the offshore block and gas has been found, but it needs more work to determine if it's commercial," he said.
The two companies plan to hold talks tomorrow in Moscow, Nikoforov added.
