Approximately 342,000 urban residents in Fujian found jobs in the first half of this year, accounting for 52.6 percent of the annual target. These new employees include 55,000 laid-off state-owned enterprise employees, 23,000 middle-aged residents, and 255,000 surplus rural laborers who have obtained urban residency. At the end of June, Fujian s registered urban unemployment rate stood at 3.85 percent.
