Mr. Liu Jiayi, Auditor-General of China, met with Mr. Jorgen Kosmo, Auditor General of Norway, in Beijing on 28th September 2010. Mr. Liu and Mr. Kosmo shared mutual respect and appreciation for each other s input in the Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) in ASOSAI and EUROSAI respectively, and exchanged views on the reform and development of INTOSAI. Mr. Dong Dasheng, Deputy Auditor-General of China, also attended the meeting.

Mr. Liu Jiayi said that as WEGA chairman of ASOSAI and EUROSAI respectively, National Audit Office of China and Office of the Auditor General of Norway should make major contributions to the international cooperation as related to environmental auditing under the framework of INTOSAI. The two countries shall further strengthen their partnership and mutual support in environmental auditing, so as to push forward the cause of environmental protection worldwide.

Mr. Kosmo highlighted the universal significance of environmental protection and environmental auditing in the context of striking global climate changes and frequent natural disasters in recent years. He expressed his wishes for multi-dimensional Sino-Norway cooperation between the governments and SAIs, which shall act as pilot projects and provide guidance for other SAIs.

Mr. Liu and Mr. Kosmo also exchanged views on China becoming the Chairman of INTOSAI Governing Board in 2013 and the future development of INTOSAI. They agreed that INTOSAI shall embark on a path of rapid development, and play a greater role in boosting budget management and warning against growth risks among various countries, as well as in promoting cleaner, more transparent and responsible governments.
