Located in Huangshan city, south of East China's Anhui province, Huangshan Mountain (or Yellow Mountain) is famous for its landscapes and time-honored culture.
It is well known in Asia, even in the world. As the famous saying goes, "a trip to Huangshan renders the trip to the five great mountains", the Yellow Mountain is indeed worth visiting.
Winter is considered the best season to visit the Huangshan Mountain. The snow scenery in Huangshan is quite unique as it perfectly combines with the views of pines, rocks, clouds and springs. When it snows, the Heavenly Capital Peak (Tiandu Feng) looks like a Goddess wrapped in sliver snow. The Lotus Peak (Lianhua Feng) is similar to a blossoming white snow flower. The snow has increased a lot of elegance and dignity to the scenic sights.
Admission fee: 150 yuan (Dec 1, 2010 - Feb 28, 2011); 230 yuan (March 1 - Nov 30, 2011)
Transportation: take the minibus in Huangshan city to Tangkou town, and transfer to the scenic sight bus to Huangshan Mountain.
What to eat: visitors are well advised to taste the local snacks in Tunxi Old Street. The famous Hui-style dishes include Lucky Chicken (Yipin Ruyi Ji), ball made from the root of kudzu vine (Gefen Yuanzi) and flying donuts.
Travel tips:
1. It is better to wear a thick coat and warm hat on the mountain as there are heavy winds.
2. As there is much rain and snow in winter, visitors are suggested to wear special shoes to prevent slipping.
