Egypt's Supreme State Security Prosecution decided on Thursday to release two MPs on bail, one day after their detention for reportedly involvement in activities of a banned group, the official MENA news agency reported.
Paying 10,000 Egyptian pounds (about 1,770 U.S. dollars) for each, Ragab Mohamed Abu-Zeid and Sabri Amer were to be released, said the report.
The two members of the People's Assembly, lower house of the parliament, were arrested and interrogated Wednesday over charges including joining the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood movement, the biggest Islamic opposition group in the country.
They were also charged with reviving activities of the banned group and possessing leaflets disseminating the group's ideology that criticizes the Egyptian government, according to MENA.
The Muslim Brotherhood movement, which was officially banned in 1954 for its attempt to set up an Islamic government, won 88 seats in the 454-member lower house of parliament after its members ran as independents in Egypt's 2005 legislative elections.
